Autoimmune (awe-toe-i-myoon)
An autoimmune disease is one in which a person's immune system is
unable to distinguish a foreign substance from a natural one. Thus, the immune system
attacks normal parts of the body. Rheumatoid arthritis is
an example of an autoimmune disease.
