blood cells. They are active in inflammation. Basophils contain histamine and heparin.

A special type of fat found primarily by the neck and upper back
(IBAT = Interscapular BAT). Brown fat is thermogenic
tissue. It is especially active in mice, however, in man, skeletal muscle is the main site
of thermogenesis.
