Creatine (KREE-ah-tin)

stored (mostly in muscle) as both creatine and creatine phosphate. It is synthesized (made
from) from the amino acids arginine, glycine, and methionine. The end
product of creatine metabolism is creatinine which is
excreted.

metabolism. Creatinine is found in urine and blood. Urinary creatinine output is one
measure of total muscle mass. Large quantities of creatinine are found in the blood in
advanced renal disease.
