Homeostasis (HOE-mee-oh-STAY-sis)
The body attempts to maintain the status quo through countless feedback mechanisms. This is called homeostasis. Example:

Homocysteine (hoe-moe-SIS-teen)
A metabolite of methionine that is converted to the benign cystathionine by a
B6-dependent enzyme. Homocysteine has been implicated in the pathogenesis
