Lymphocyte (LIM-foe-site)
Lymphocytes make up 20-35% of your white
blood cells. They are formed in lymphatic tissue that are the bodies main system of
immune defense. Humoral immunity is produced by B cells and cell-mediated
immunity is produced by T cells. Lymphocytes use antibodies to identify and attack invading antigens.
Lysine (LIE-seen)
An essential amino acid that is
the precursor of carnitine
and citrulline. Lysine is found in large quantities in
muscle tissue. It promotes bone growth and the formation of collagen.
Lysine may be useful in treating herpes and osteoporosis.
