Reproductive glands located in the scrotum that produce sperm, testosterone, and inhibin. A
single testicle is called a testis (TES-tis).

The male sexual characteristics are regulated by testosterone and
dihydrotestosterone. Testosterone is converted to
dihydrotestosterone by the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase.
Testosterone is converted to estradiol by the enzyme 17-ketoreductase.
