Wellbutrin And Seizures

Is it safe to use an ECA stack if you are taking Wellbutrin?

adrenal insufficiency, adrenal exhaustion, ECA  Is it safe to use an ECA stack if you are taking Wellbutrin?

adrenal insufficiency, adrenal exhaustion, ECA  I would not take ECA with Wellbutrin (bupropion). Although Wellbutrin has weak noradrenaline reuptake blocking activity, it has an active metabolite, hydroxybupropion, which may produce significant noradrenaline blockage (1-BK). I would be afraid of overstimulation with that combination. I'm of the belief that one should be extremely careful with any polypharmacy and always discuss it with a doctor that knows your medical history, your complete drug/supplement regimen, etc.

Personally, I'm scared of Wellbutrin because of the risk of seizures -- especially if one takes high doses of the immediate release formula. The seizure frequency is about 0.4% (4/1000 patients) at doses of 300 to 450 mg a day. At doses between 450 mg and 600 mg a day, the seizure frequency is almost TENFOLD higher!!! The seizure frequency with the extended-release formulation is about 0.1% at doses of up to 300 mg a day, but it rises to about 0.4% at 400 mg a day (1-BK, 2).

Could you imagine what would happen if any supplement came within a hundred country miles of these adverse reaction rates?!? The FDA would be having seizures! And the mainstream media would convince the public that the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) had allowed a new black plague to descend upon us. Want to bet that --despite the statistics -- the FDA MedWatch report would blame ma huang (ephedrine) if someone had a seizure while combining Wellbutrin and thermogenic supplements?
