Site DesignTell me about the web site design. Well, the site is always evolving . . . and if I say anything definitive, I will have to write this part of the FAQ all over again sometime in the future. So . . . NO! I'm not going to tell you about the site design! OK . . . I guess. How does one get around the site? The site is divided into a number of main sections (DrumLib's Posts, Document Retrieval, Dictionary, etc.). There is a site navigation drop down box at the top of the page that can take you to any section you want. |

lot of the links open in a new window. Yeah, this can confuse people but sometimes it's a very efficient feature. For example, if you are reading one of my posts and you click on a word, the definition will appear in a new window. This allows the reader to follow the hyperlinks in the definition and bounce around the dictionary until they really understand the definition. Then all you have to do is close the window when you want to return to the post. This is much easier than trying to backtrack your steps. Did you design the graphics? I created some of the graphics in Paint Shop Pro; others are public domain graphics that I found on the web. The drumstick is (was) a Regal Tip 5B that I scanned and "fattened up" so it could hold the "Health Research Review" text. I created some the graphics for the ECA thermometer in Paint Shop Pro, but I used the animation program that comes with (I think) MS Office Pro. I try not to go overboard on the graphics because I want the pages to load fast. Tell me about the home page. The home page gives new visitors a brief introduction to the site. Regular readers can look in the "New Stuff" section and the "New Links" section and see if there is new stuff. |
