This information on green tea extract updates and expands upon the following articles: Related Price Comparisons: Aug 28, 2004 Update:There seems to be some confusion about green tea supplements. Basically, there are two types of green tea supplements: moderate potency extracts that contain 60-80 mg of EGCG, and high potency extracts that contain about 220 mg of EGCG. The medium potency extracts contain approximately 7% caffeine, and high potency extracts that contain little, if any, caffeine. At this time, there are two green tea supplements that stand out from the pack as outstanding values for weight loss. (Check the green tea price comparison page for the latest info.) I will list the current best products and discuss some of the ways that people successfully use them. Moderate Potency (EGCG) Green Tea Extract
Jarrow Green Tea Extract Very low stimulation thermogenic stacks are often made without ephedrine -- 3-7 Jarrow green tea capsules have a respectable thermogenic effect. Low stimulation thermogenic stacks are often made using 3-4 Jarrow green tea capsules (90-120mg caffeine) combined with 10-15mg ephedrine. Full strength thermogenic stacks use 6-7 Jarrow green tea capsules (180-210mg caffeine) with 20-25mg of ephedrine. (To make a full strength stack with less capsules, use one caffeine capsule and one high potency green tea extract, instead of the 6-7 Jarrow green tea capsules.) High Potency (EGCG) Green Tea Extract
NSI Green Tea Extract Since the high potency green tea extracts contain little or no caffeine, they are generally used as adjuncts to ephedrine/caffeine stacks. One mini thin, one caffeine capsule and one high potency green tea capsule is a classic combination.
