News, Rants & Site InfoNote: Click here to go to the most recent home page update. However, if a search engine brought you to this page, you will most likely find what you are looking for on this page. May 23, 2001: A lot of people have written asking about my personal supplement program, and why I take so much folic acid, etc. My new post answers all these questions and outlines a scientific approach to preventing obesity-related diseases. People have also suggested that we add info on coupons and specials to the Supplement Price Comparison, and expand it to include all sorts of supplements. We are working on that right now. In fact, that's why this update is so late. I've been building another computer and transferring data and a million other things. All this general craziness was further complicated by a painful pulled muscle in my leg. President Bush is going to nominate a new FDA commissioner. And believe it or not, there is a chance that I just might have good things to say about the next FDA commissioner. OK, I don't have to check my email to know that you are probably thinking "yeah right, and you *might* win the lottery tomorrow." But I'm not playing word games here; we might actually get a GOOD FDA commissioner. Dr. Mary J. Ruwart is a candidate to be the next FDA commissioner. Ruwart is a Libertarian, so she would oppose the excessive FDA regulations that delay and even prevent the development of life saving drugs. Check out this quote from one of her excellent articles: "The moral of the story is that the delays caused by FDA regulations cost many more lives than they save. The cure is worse than the disease." She has written a bunch of articles that answer questions about libertarian issues. This is a great educational resource. If President Bush picks Mary Ruwart to be FDA commissioner, it will have a huge impact on the health of Americans and the advancement of medicine. William Faloon has written about this and even started a letter writing campaign to support her nomination because he rightly feels that "We now have a unique opportunity to change the course of medical history." If you are not into snail mail, at least send an email to President Bush letting him know that you want Dr. Mary J. Ruwart to be the next FDA commissioner.
